cd $HIVE_HOME

hive --service metastore &

Recommend to start it in the background with nohup, which will keep the background process alive even disconnect the ssh window

cd $HIVE_HOME

nohup hive --service metastore &

Now you can start use HIVE, which table data are stored on hdfs file system we created earlier.

First, start hive metastore service.

cd $HIVE_HOME

hive --service metastore &
