# hive home

### hive home

This is the HIVE\_HOME directory, in my example,

HIVE\_HOME=/home/bigdata2/hive/hive

pwd

/home/bigdata2/hive/hive

Append HIVE\_HOME and hive path to \~/.bashrc, recommend log out and log back in.

export HIVE\_HOME=/home/bigdata2/hive/hive

export PATH=$HIVE\_HOME/bin:$PATH

After log out and log back in, need to create hdfs directory that will host HIVE tables:

hdfs dfs -mkdir /tmp

hdfs dfs -mkdir /user

hdfs dfs -mkdir /user/hive

hdfs dfs -mkdir /user/hive/warehouse

hdfs dfs -chmod g+w /user/hive/warehouse

hdfs dfs -chmod g+w /tmp
